Following the success of the first Athena Screenwriters’ Lab in 2008, Initialize Films is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2009 course. The Athena Lab is a dedicated programme for 8 women screenwriters who are ready to move their careers forward, and want to get an agent/development contract for a feature script.
The course was developed by Initialize Films with the assistance of an advisory panel including Juliette Towhidi (writer - Calendar Girls), Pippa Cross (producer - Shooting Dogs), Katherine Butler (Head of Development, Film 4), Martha Fiennes (director - Onegin) and Sarah Golding (script editor - The Constant Gardener).
The 2009 programme will run from February – December 2009, with the first 8 months focused on developing each writer’s slate of projects and coaching them on pitching, career management, the market, marketing strategies and commissioning options. The following 3 months will then concentrate on marketing the writers’ scripts, and putting them in contact with directors, producers, agents and commissioners.
The 2008 catalogue of Athena projects is available online at www.initialize-films.co.uk
